Multi-Estate Spring 2026 Auction
Lot 489:
Description
C-19582
Group of vintage glass ink bottles accompanied by two natural writing feathers. The lot includes five small ink bottles of varying form including square and round examples, with several showing embossed maker’s marks on the bases. One base is marked Sanford’s, referencing Sanford Manufacturing Company, a well-known American ink producer. The bottles display typical utilitarian forms used for desk ink wells and refill bottles in early twentieth-century writing sets. Two dark bird feathers are included, suggesting use as traditional quill-style writing implements alongside the bottles.
Items show age-related wear including residue and discoloration within the bottles and general surface wear from use. The feathers exhibit natural wear and slight bending consistent with age.
Tallest: 3.75” H
