Group of four Texaco service station road maps printed by Rand McNally and distributed through Texaco dealers during the mid-century era of American highway travel. The lot includes state maps for Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois, along with a Memphis Street and Vicinity Map. Covers feature classic Texaco advertising artwork including scenic regional imagery—such as a Michigan sailboat on open water and a Midwestern farm landscape—paired with the recognizable Texaco star logo and slogans including “Trust your car to the man who wears the star” and “Buy the best… buy Texaco.”
Interior maps show detailed highway networks, town indexes, and city insets typical of Rand McNally cartography from the period. The Michigan example includes multiple inset maps highlighting Detroit, Flint, Lansing, Saginaw, and Grand Rapids, as well as routes connecting Michigan to Chicago and the broader Great Lakes region. Reverse panels advertise Texaco’s nationwide credit card program and promote the Texaco Touring Atlas along with lodging partnerships such as Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodges, reflecting the infrastructure that supported mid-century automobile tourism.
Shows moderate age-related wear including fold lines, minor toning, and light edge wear from handling. Several examples are housed in protective sleeves and remain bright and legible overall.
