Pair of cast metal five-point star plaques centered with raised “G.A.R. 1861 1865” within a circular medallion. Each retains rear mounting lugs, indicating architectural or monument installation rather than wearable use. One example is stamped “E.N. Blem & Co. Box 4 Bristol, PA, ” while the other reads “Presented by the County Commissioners Allentown, PA, ” confirming Pennsylvania origins. The Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) was the primary Union veterans’ organization following the Civil War, and plaques of this type were commonly produced for civic memorials, courthouse displays, and dedication markers.
Both show age-related oxidation and surface wear. The Allentown example exhibits heavier verdigris and corrosion. Mounting lugs are intact on both; no structural cracks observed.
