An antique wrought iron crusie oil lamp featuring a shallow basin with a forward wick channel and an ornate backplate cut in a double-bird motif. These early lighting devices were widely used in rural households before the advent of kerosene, often fueled with animal fat or fish oil. The pierced ironwork design served both decorative and functional purposes, shielding the flame while allowing ventilation.
Excellent condition but does have residue from previous use.
