Description
Item SKU: C-17557
c. 1890s-1910s; Henry Alcock & Co. – Cobridge, Staffordshire, England
Pair of flow blue relish dishes in the "Touraine" pattern.
These semi-porcelain serving pieces by Henry Alcock & Co. are formed in elongated oval shapes with scalloped rims and shallow wells. Each dish is decorated with cobalt floral transfers from the "Touraine" pattern, softened by the flow blue process into the white ground. Deep cobalt borders with traces of gilt highlight the edges, lending refinement to these functional table accessories. Designed for relishes, pickles, or small accompaniments, the pair demonstrates both the decorative and practical nature of Victorian Staffordshire dinner services.
Some stains and crazing.
8.5" W each
