Description
Item SKU: C-17546
c. 1890s-1910s; Henry Alcock & Co. & Stanley Pottery – Staffordshire, England
Set of eight flow blue soup bowls, mixed makers.
This group combines examples by Henry Alcock & Co. in the "Touraine" pattern with bowls from Stanley Pottery, each decorated in rich cobalt blue floral transfers softened through the flow blue process. Molded scalloped rims frame the bowls, with designs ranging from clustered blossoms to more open sprays. The variation in transfer motifs highlights the popularity of flow blue among multiple Staffordshire potteries, while the uniform size and form create a cohesive set for use or display. Together, these bowls embody the decorative charm and utilitarian appeal of late-Victorian English tableware.
One piece exhibits a fleabite and the another has a small chip.
