Item SKU: C-17535
c. 1890s-1910s; Henry Alcock & Co. – Cobridge, Staffordshire, England
Flow blue oval serving platter in the "Touraine" pattern.
Produced in semi-porcelain by Henry Alcock & Co., this large platter features blurred cobalt transfers of floral sprays around the interior well, framed by a scalloped rim with a deep cobalt border. The soft diffusion of the flow blue technique creates an atmospheric effect, with the decoration melting into the white ground. Substantial in size and weight, the platter would have been a centerpiece serving vessel in a Victorian dining service, harmonizing with coordinated tureens, plates, and bowls. Stamped beneath with the Alcock shield crest and "Touraine" mark.
Appears to be free from chips or cracks.
