Description
Item SKU: C-17534
c. 1890s-1910s; Henry Alcock & Co. – Cobridge, Staffordshire, England
Set of five flow blue dinner plates in the "Touraine" pattern.
These semi-porcelain plates from Henry Alcock & Co. bear the richly diffused cobalt decoration characteristic of the "Touraine" line. Each plate features scalloped rims with cobalt borders, softened floral sprays, and gilt remnants that frame the central well. The blurred transfer effect creates a painterly quality, with each plate showing slight variations in how the cobalt wash has flowed. Bearing the Alcock shield crest beneath, the set reflects the refined yet functional dining services produced by Staffordshire potteries for late-Victorian and Edwardian tables.
Plates exhibit some chips and crazing.
