Multi-Estate Fall 2025 Auction
Lot 380:
Description
Item SKU: C-17529
Pair of flow blue cups with three matching saucers in the "Seaweed" design.
Rendered in semi-porcelain with hand-applied enamel highlights, these pieces feature the distinctive branching coral-like motif associated with the "Seaweed" pattern. The blurred cobalt transfers are accented with overglaze red and green detailing, lending vibrancy to the organic design. Though unmarked, the set aligns with the wares of late-Victorian Staffordshire potteries, where seaweed and branch patterns were among the most popular motifs in flow blue dinnerware. Together, the cups and saucers demonstrate both the decorative and experimental side of English transferware at the turn of the century.
Fleabites on one cup rim and a chip on the base of the other.
