Description
Item SKU: C-17528
c. 1890s-1910s; Henry Alcock & Co. – Cobridge, Staffordshire, England
Set of six flow blue rimmed soup bowls in the "Touraine" pattern.
Produced by Henry Alcock & Co. in semi-porcelain, these bowls bear the hallmarks of late-Victorian flow blue: blurred cobalt transfers, scalloped edges, and delicate gilt accents. The "Touraine" pattern features varied floral sprays and urn motifs, rendered with the soft diffusion of cobalt that defined the style. The wide rims highlight the deep wash of blue, while the gently sloped centers balance elegance with practical use. Stamped beneath with the Alcock shield crest and "Touraine" mark, the set remains a striking example of Staffordshire’s mastery of decorative dinnerware.
One piece exhibits some crazing and another has a small spot, likely from the manufacturer.
