General Antiques and Collectibles Spring Auction
Lot 593:
Description
C-18121
Heavy cast iron two-fluke boat anchor marked "15" near the shank, indicating weight or size classification. The design features broad curved flukes and a solid shank with rounded eyelet for line or chain attachment-an efficient and rugged form typical of mid century small watercraft hardware. Its simple mechanical geometry and aged surface patina convey both the utility and enduring craftsmanship of traditional marine equipment. By the mid-20th century, anchors of this cast style were widely produced in the U.S. for fishing boats, rowboats, and river craft, valued for their reliability and straightforward function.
Surface oxidation and weathering present throughout, consistent with marine use and long-term exposure.
