c. 1890s-1910s; Meriden Britannia Company – Meriden, CT Elegant double-handled silverplate covered sugar bowl featuring a flared body with angular handles, stepped lid finial, and engraved Gothic "H" monogram on the face. The restrained silhouette and precise form reflect late Victorian to early Edwardian design sensibilities, bridging ornamental and utilitarian table service styles. Meriden’s bright silver finish and balanced proportions highlight the company’s high manufacturing standards during the height of American silverplate production. Founded in 1852 in Meriden, Connecticut, the Meriden Britannia Company became one of the leading U.S. manufacturers of silverplated hollowware, later incorporated into the International Silver Company in 1898-renowned for its artistry and quality craftsmanship exported worldwide.
