c. Mid-20th Century; Kiwi Polish Co. – Melbourne, Australia Red enameled metal point-of-sale countertop display with revolving base, designed to showcase tins of Kiwi and Cavalier boot polish. Produced by Kiwi, founded in Melbourne in 1906 by William Ramsay and later expanded worldwide, this revolving boot polish display was a fixture in shoe shops and general stores throughout the mid-20th century. Its bold red enamel finish and vertical "Boot Polish" lettering command attention, while the rotating design allowed easy customer access to a variety of polish colors. The display retains several original polish tins, adding to its authenticity and period character. A rare survivor of retail advertising, this piece captures the intersection of utilitarian merchandising and bold mid-century graphic branding. Its robust construction and time-earned patina make it as collectible as it is visually striking.
Shows expected wear from shop use including surface scratches, small enamel losses, and light oxidation to the base.
