1948/49; Chicago Railroad Fair – Chicago, IL Bronze-colored souvenir token from the Bank of Gold Gulch exhibit at the Chicago Railroad Fair, struck with a raised image of the frontier-style bank façade. Lettering reads: "BANK OF GOLD GULCH – CHICAGO RAILROAD FAIR 1948 – SOUVENIR." The Chicago Railroad Fair (1948-1949) celebrated a century of American railroad history with displays, parades, and themed attractions along Chicago’s lakefront. The "Gold Gulch" section recreated a western mining town and issued novelty tokens such as this as keepsakes for visitors. These tokens remain popular with collectors of world’s fair and railroad ephemera, bridging the themes of Americana, transport history, and mid-20th century exposition souvenirs.
Condition shows light handling wear with minor surface marks; retains strong detail and luster.
