Multi-Estate Spring 2026 Auction
Lot 494:
Description
C-19587
Pair of glazed stoneware storage jars with wire bail handles and fitted ceramic lids. Both examples feature dark brown glazed exteriors and contrasting lighter ceramic bases, with metal wire handles attached through small side openings for carrying or securing the lids. The lids include recessed undersides designed to seat rubber sealing rings, indicating the jars were intended for airtight storage of dry goods such as coffee, tea, sugar, or pantry staples. One jar shows a slightly lighter brown glaze while the other is darker in tone.
The rubber sealing rings are dried out and detached from the lids. Light surface wear and minor glaze marks are present consistent with age and use.
