c. 1940s–1950s; American Art Potteries – Shawnee Pottery, Morton, IL
Small glazed ceramic planter formed in the shape of a folded baby diaper. The piece features a pale blue glaze and molded folds resembling fabric gathered around a diaper form. Two small holes appear near the upper front edge, likely intended for attaching a decorative safety pin or ribbon when used as a nursery gift or baby shower decoration. The front retains its original metal label reading “American Art Potteries – Property of Any Home – Shawnee – Morton, Ill.” The interior cavity would have been suitable for a small plant, floral arrangement, or decorative display.
Shows light surface wear, minor discoloration to the interior, and general age-related marks consistent with use.
