Multi-Estate Spring 2026 Auction
Lot 288:
Description
C-19323
Polychrome chalkware figure depicting a young Highland girl in traditional Scottish dress, complete with tam-style cap, pleated skirt, knee socks, and cape. She holds a set of bagpipes across her front, the instrument rendered in simplified relief with molded detailing. The paint palette features muted greens, ochres, and warm flesh tones, with hand-applied shading to the cheeks and hair. The back reveals molded drapery folds and textured hair, typical of mid-century chalkware casting. The base is integrated and painted in a warm ochre tone, with molded lettering at the front (partially softened by age and wear).
Shows scattered paint wear, small surface scuffs, and minor edge abrasions consistent with age. No major cracks observed; surface patina and paint variation appropriate to material.
