Multi-Estate Spring 2026 Auction
Lot 285:
Description
C-19320
Shallow hand-hammered copper pan with rolled rim and wide cooking surface, fitted to a long, hand-forged wrought iron handle secured by three visible rivets. The iron grip terminates in a tapered spear-form end, with a twisted side brace reinforcing the joint where handle meets pan—an unmistakable sign of blacksmith fabrication rather than later factory production. The underside shows consistent hammering marks, and the interior retains a darkened, work-worn surface from prolonged hearth use.
Shows heavy surface wear consistent with age and use, including oxidation and pitting to the wrought iron handle, darkened patina and surface irregularities to the copper body, and scattered edge wear along the rim. Structurally sound with strong rivet joints.
12” dia pan 27.25” L
