c. 1890s-1910s; Henry Alcock & Co. – Cobridge, Staffordshire, England
Flow blue oval serving platter in the "Touraine" pattern.
This substantial platter by Henry Alcock & Co. is executed in semi-porcelain with the "Touraine" floral transfer, softened through the flow blue technique. The rim features a deep cobalt wash that bleeds into the white ground, framing sprays of blossoms around the interior well. Molded scalloped edges and traces of gilt lend dimension and refinement. At over 16" wide, this platter would have served as a centerpiece for roasts or large servings, complementing Alcock’s coordinated dinner services of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras. Stamped beneath with the Alcock shield crest.
Some chips around the rim.
