Description
Item SKU: C-17526
c. 1890s-1910s; Henry Alcock & Co. – Cobridge, Staffordshire, England
Set of six flow blue rimmed soup bowls in the "Touraine" pattern.
Crafted in semi-porcelain by Henry Alcock & Co., these bowls display the characteristic blurred cobalt transfer that made flow blue ware a staple of Victorian and Edwardian dining. Each features scalloped rims with gilt accents and richly applied floral decoration, ranging from sprays of blossoms to urn motifs. The wide rimmed form allows the cobalt wash to pool and soften at the edges, heightening the ethereal effect. Stamped with the Alcock shield and "Touraine" mark, this matched set reflects both the utility and the table elegance sought after in late-19th-century English ceramics.
Exhibit some pitting.
