Description

C-20666

Primitive wooden bucket lot including a bentwood firkin with swing handle and a smaller stave-built sap or utility bucket with fixed wooden carrying handle. The larger example retains copper-toned bands and iron hanging hardware, while the smaller bucket shows a more weathered gray surface with iron banding at the base. Buckets of this type were commonly used for farm, kitchen, dairy, or maple sugaring tasks.

Age cracks, shrinkage, oxidation, surface wear, and finish loss present throughout. Larger firkin shows separation lines between staves and wear to metal hardware. Smaller bucket exhibits heavy weathering and oxidation to lower banding. Both retain a strong primitive country appearance.

Sap Bucket: 13" Diam, x 18" H Firkin: 9.75" Diam. x 13.75" H(Handle Width 11")
