c. late 19th–early 20th century. Cast iron floor register or heat grate featuring an intricate geometric and latticework design with decorative border elements. The heavy construction and openwork pattern were intended to allow heat circulation from below while adding visual detail to interior floors. Typical of Victorian and early 20th century architectural hardware, combining utility with ornamental design.
Heavy oxidation and surface rust throughout. Areas of pitting and wear to edges and raised details. Structurally intact with no major breaks observed.
