c. 1960s–1970s; Monroe Auto Equipment Company – Monroe, MI Monroe branded automotive service display cabinet, constructed from painted sheet steel and fitted with a clear plexiglass-front lower compartment. Built for active shop use, the cabinet sits on four swivel casters for easy movement between service bays. The upper section features a hinged lift-top, opening to additional storage, and is crowned by a vivid yellow lithographed advertising panel reading “Complete Ride Control, ” illustrating Monroe shock absorber models. The front panel slogan—“Safety Knows No Season / Let Us Check Your Shock Absorbers Now”—anchors the piece firmly in mid-century service station merchandising. The lower cabinet is enclosed by sliding clear plexiglass doors, retaining the original lock cylinder, key, and internal rack-style locking bars.
Wear consistent with industrial use, including scratches, paint loss, oxidation along lower edges, and staining to interior surfaces. Plexiglass doors show surface scuffs but remain intact; casters roll as intended. Includes key and original locking hardware.
