Figural ceramic group titled “Discovery, ” depicting a young boy in striped pajamas standing before an open dresser drawer, holding a red garment, with scattered contents including a fur tail and personal effects at his feet. Hand-painted with detailed molded dresser backdrop and titled base. Based on the original Saturday Evening Post cover illustration by Norman Rockwell, published December 29, 1956. Underside marked accordingly with model number NR-20 and retains original “Dave Grossman Design Japan” foil label. Manufactured in Japan, consistent with mid-1970s export ceramic production.
General surface wear and light soiling throughout. Discoloration and staining to base and figure. Minor paint loss to edges and high points. Wear to underside pads. No major cracks or breaks observed.
