Description

C-18846

Brown leather suitcase containing a small grouping of Masonic Knights Templar (full name, The United Religious, Military and Masonic Orders of the Temple and of St John of Jerusalem, Palestine, Rhodes and Malta) regalia, centered around two distinct ceremonial hats. The primary piece is a traditional Knights Templar chapeau, constructed of dark felt and trimmed with white feathering, featuring an embroidered red cross emblem framed in gold thread on the front. The feathered trim remains largely intact, though the feathers are loose and shedding with age, leaving fragments within the case. The second hat is a structured cap with a short leather visor, decorative braid, and a metal cross emblem, consistent with formal or auxiliary dress within the Knights Templar commandery. Accompanying the hats are two pairs of gloves and two brushes, typical personal accessories associated with formal fraternal attire. The gloves show staining and wear from use, while the brushes exhibit expected handling wear, suggesting these items were actively used rather than kept solely for display.

The suitcase itself is leather-covered over a rigid frame, with stitched edges, metal corner protectors, and a central locking clasp. Interior is fabric-lined and retains its original compartments. Condition is fair overall, with cracked and heavily patinated leather, though the structure remains solid and the lid opens and closes smoothly. No key is present.
