Description

C-18784

Cast iron, hand-crank food grinder produced by Lorraine Metal Manufacturing Co., designed to clamp directly to a tabletop or work surface. The grinder features a square feed hopper, enclosed gear housing, and a turned wooden handle mounted to a steel crank arm. Finished in its original green-painted surface with exposed metal at wear points, the piece reflects the durable, no-nonsense construction typical of early 20th-century American kitchen and utility tools. Grinders of this type were standard household implements before electric appliances became common, used for processing meats, vegetables, and other foods at home. Lorraine Metal Manufacturing was known for producing reliable cast metal goods, and examples like this were built for repeated daily use rather than decoration-resulting in forms that are purely functional and mechanically straightforward.

Paint wear and surface patina are present throughout, consistent with age and use. Mechanism turns freely and operates as intended. No cracks or breaks observed. Sold as found.
