Description

C-21669

Six-gallon salt-glazed stoneware crock with applied lug handles and cobalt blue decoration depicting a spread-wing eagle above an “E Pluribus Unum” banner, with a “6” capacity mark enclosed within a floral wreath. This patriotic motif is commonly associated with Pennsylvania stoneware production of the 19th century. Produced during the late 19th century for food storage and preservation

Hairline surface cracks are present but do not extend through the wall of the crock. One lug handle has a chip at its attachment point. Light surface wear, scattered staining, and minor manufacturing imperfections consistent with age and use. No evidence of structural separation observed.
