Description
C-21644
Reclaimed six-light wooden window sash hand painted with a series of winter woodland scenes featuring vibrant Northern cardinals resting among snow-covered birch trees. Each pane presents a unique composition, ranging from solitary birds to paired and grouped cardinals, creating a continuous seasonal narrative across the window. Heavy textured paint has been applied to simulate accumulated snow, while white paint spatter evokes falling snowfall against dark winter skies. The original architectural sash retains its weathered painted surface, muntins, mortise hardware, and overall rustic character, transforming a salvaged window into decorative folk art suitable for seasonal or year-round display.
Shows light to moderate wear consistent with the reclaimed nature of the architectural sash. Frame exhibits scattered paint loss, surface scratches, checking, small edge losses, and age-related weathering throughout. Painted artwork remains vibrant with no significant losses observed. Glass panes remain intact. Retains original mortise hardware and hanging wire for display.
