c. 1890s; Wood & Son – Burslem, Staffordshire Large ironstone chamber pot featuring a rounded, vertically paneled body finished in a distinctive ombré glaze transitioning from deep brick red at the lower body to warm ivory at the rim. The form is fitted with a stout loop handle and a rolled lip, designed for practical handling and durability. Subtle gilt remnants remain along the upper edge, now softly worn, lending visual contrast to the utilitarian form. The scale and weight reflect late Victorian domestic wares intended for everyday household use. Wood & Son was a prominent English pottery manufacturer founded in 1865 in Burslem, Staffordshire, known for producing durable ironstone wares for both domestic use and export.
Shows surface wear throughout, including gilt loss, glaze speckling, and light discoloration consistent with age and use. Interior remains clean with minor staining visible. No cracks observed.
