c. late 1800s–early 1900s; J.P. Limoges – France Large porcelain jardiniere with pale blue ground, hand-painted floral decoration, and gilt embellishment throughout. The body features soft pink blossoms with green foliage, framed by a dark green band with raised and painted gold detailing along the rim and base. Cast elephant head handles with trunks extend from either side, finished in a rich gilt tone and integrated into the form. The interior is glazed white, and the underside bears a green “J.P. Limoges France” mark. Form and decoration reflect French decorative porcelain production of the late 19th to early 20th century. J.P. Limoges refers to Jean Pouyat Limoges, part of the broader Limoges porcelain industry centered in France, known for high-quality white-bodied porcelain and hand-decorated wares produced for both domestic and export markets. Pieces such as this were often used as decorative planters or centerpiece vessels.
Shows moderate wear consistent with age, including surface wear to gilding and light discoloration. Notable chip to the rim as photographed. Minor interior wear and light surface marks present. Overall structurally sound with visible age-related wear.
