c. 1920s; Manning, Bowman & Co. – Meriden, CT Early electric coffee percolator service set, consisting of the percolator and matching creamer and lidded sugar bowl, produced by Manning, Bowman & Co., one of the leading American manufacturers of electric household appliances in the early 20th century. The percolator features a classic urn-form body with faceted sides, domed lid topped by a clear glass finial, and an articulated spigot fitted with an amber-colored insulator knob. It stands on four scrolling legs with amber feet, blending traditional coffee service forms with emerging electric functionality. The creamer and sugar bowl echo the same faceted profiles and curled handles, presenting as a cohesive countertop service set rather than a single standalone appliance. Manning, Bowman & Co. was founded in the late 19th century in Meriden, Connecticut, and became widely known for its high-quality electric coffee makers, chafing dishes, and warming appliances. Their products were heavily marketed during the 1910s-1920s as modern conveniences, often retaining decorative metalwork that bridged Victorian aesthetics and early machine-age design.
All items appear to be in good overall condition with surface wear consistent with age, including light scratching, finish dulling, and minor handling marks. The percolator is missing its power cord and has not been tested. Accessories have not been tested.
