*2-Day* Fresh Barn Finds & Country Estate Auction (Day 1/2)
Lot 243:
Description
C-18001
Light-toned splint wood basket with double swing handles, flat fitted lid, and removable interior tray. The woven body is reinforced with nailed wooden bands, giving both strength and a rustic handmade aesthetic. The tray, with raised feet and corner cutouts, was designed to rest neatly inside, dividing the basket for food storage and service. Such baskets became a staple of American domestic and leisure life in the early to mid 20th century, used for outings, travel, and storage. Their durable yet lightweight construction made them both practical and enduring, and they remain iconic examples of utilitarian folk design.
Shows age-related wear to the wood, some staining to the interior base, and scuffs on lid and handles from use.
13.5" W x 12" D x 7" H not including handles
