Description
C-18111
c. 1880s-1890s; Wedgwood & Co. – Staffordshire, England Victorian three-piece chamber pot set by Wedgwood & Co., decorated in a delicate transfer-printed botanical motif with hand-tinted pink blooms and gilt accents. Sets of this style were common in late-19th-century washstands and bedroom suites, pairing usefulness with the ornamental sensibilities of the period. The grouping includes the handled chamber pot, matching lid, and undertray/retainer-each bearing the same fern-and-flower decoration in soft brown linework with vivid rose highlights. The forms reflect typical Victorian sanitary ware: a wide-mouthed vessel with rolled rim, a domed lid with molded handle, and a dished base tray designed to protect wooden washstands and flooring. Founded in 1759 by Josiah Wedgwood, the company became a cornerstone of English pottery, pioneering advancements in fine earthenware, creamware, and jasperware that defined British ceramic production for over two centuries.
Displays age-consistent crazing and light wear to gilded detailing; overall very good antique condition.
Pot and Lid: 8.5" dia x 8.5" H Tray: 10" diam.
