C-18027
c. 1928; Weiss Brothers – Hollywood, CA Original lobby card for The Mysterious Airman, chapter nine of a ten-chapter silent aviation serial released in 1928 by Weiss Brothers, an independent film production and distribution company active during the 1920s-30s. This example advertises Chapter Nine, "The Warning From the Sky", and depicts three aviators posed beside a biplane-an image that captures the era’s fascination with aviation and aerial drama. The Weiss Brothers were known for producing low-budget serials and features that catered to small-town theaters, often capitalizing on popular cultural trends such as aviation, crime, and adventure stories. The Mysterious Airman is among their most remembered serials, though surviving prints today are incomplete, adding rarity and significance to original promotional material.
The card shows age toning, surface wear, and some light staining along the edges, but the imagery remains bold. Housed in a period black frame that is structurally sound and ready to hang.
