c. 1930s; National Silver Company for Samuel E. Bernstein (S.E.B.) – NYC Complete S.E.B. Three pattern silverplate flatware set stamped SEB EPNS, housed in its original burgundy velvet-lined roll with stitched loops and fold-over leather cover. The set comprises 26 pieces, including spoons, forks, and knives with steel blades and silverplated handles. Handles feature the distinctive S.E.B. Three design: octagonal shafts with double beaded borders and subtle cameo-type embellishments set within geometric panels, reflecting a restrained classical revival aesthetic typical of turn-of-the-century American silverplate. EPNS (Electro-Plated Nickel Silver) indicates a silver coating over a nickel-silver base, a standard construction for quality tableware of the period. The S.E.B. Three pattern was produced by National Silver Co. under the S.E.B. name, with the cameo-style detailing serving as a defining visual element of the pattern.
