C-19060

1920s-1940s; Wheeldon Ware – England / Paden City Pottery – West Virginia / Royal China Co. – USA Three-piece porcelain and ironstone serving grouping featuring distinct English and American manufacture. The lot includes a Wheeldon Ware ironstone lidded jar marked F. Winkle & Co. Ltd., England; a "Grecian Ivory" covered plate by Paden City Pottery, West Virginia; and a Royal China Co. covered sugar bowl. Each piece showcases heavy gilt decoration typical of early 20th-century tableware, unified by warm ivory grounds and formal presentation styling. The Wheeldon Ware jar presents with a faceted body, molded scroll handles, and a domed lid accented by a bold horizontal gilt band. The Grecian Ivory covered plate features a low dome lid with matching gilt band and a square-underplate with extensive gold wash and floral detailing. The Royal China sugar bowl displays full gilt upper decoration with intricate floral scrollwork, twin handles, and a fitted lid. All three pieces emphasize rich gold embellishment against restrained ivory fields, reflecting transitional Edwardian and early Depression-era decorative tastes.

Condition is good vintage to antique condition with visible wear to gilt surfaces, particularly along rims and high points. Light crazing and minor surface marks consistent with age and prior use. No major structural cracks observed.
