Carved monkeypod wood souvenir dish in a stylized three-lobed form with a small projecting tab at one edge. The interior is smoothly contoured, showcasing the rich, variegated grain typical of monkeypod (Samanea saman), with warm amber and chocolate-toned figuring. The underside retains a circular metallic foil label reading "Aloha From Hawaii, " featuring a hula dancer motif in red and blue. Monkeypod became a popular carving wood in Hawaii during the mid-20th century as tourism expanded. Its dramatic grain patterns and durability made it ideal for bowls, trays, and souvenir wares sold to mainland visitors. The organic shape and simple hand-finished form reflect the era’s island craft aesthetic-functional, decorative, and rooted in native hardwood tradition.
Light surface wear consistent with age and handling, including minor scratches and finish scuffs. Foil label shows rubbing and light abrasion but remains legible.
