c. 1900s; Landers Frary & Clark – New Britain, CT Early 20th-century tin No. 4 Universal Bread Maker, produced by Landers Frary & Clark and accompanied by an unbranded hand-crank wire mixer. The bread maker features a cylindrical tin body with integrated side handles and a heavy, embossed lid fitted with an overhead crank mechanism designed to knead dough inside the vessel. Raised lettering and cast reinforcement ribs on the lid reflect the robust, utilitarian construction typical of LF&C kitchenware from this period. The included hand mixer, with its green-painted wooden handle and gear-driven wire whisk, represents a complementary tool from the same era, intended for manual mixing of batters and doughs before electrification of the home kitchen.
Shows minor surface patina and wear to the bread maker consistent with age and use. Mixer shows light wear to the handle and metal components. Both pieces appear structurally sound.
