Lot 145:
Description
C-20956
De Laval Separator Company – New York, NY Cast iron flywheel and pedestal assembly from a De Laval cream separator, retaining open spoke wheel construction and cast “No. 2” marking. Components of this type were used on hand-crank or belt-driven dairy separators that centrifugally separated cream from milk for farm and commercial dairy production. The sculptural spoke design and heavy utilitarian casting reflect the practical engineering associated with early agricultural and dairy equipment.
Heavy oxidation, pitting, and surface deterioration throughout. Missing nuts/hardware at the hub assembly as shown. Surface corrosion and loss consistent with prolonged barn or outdoor storage.
