c. 1920s; Wagner Manufacturing Co. – Sidney, OH Classic six-cob cast iron cornbread pan by Wagner Ware, produced for the company’s trademarked "Krusty Korn Kobs" line-one of the most recognizable and heavily advertised specialty bakeware designs of the early 20th century. Wagner promoted these pans in national publications, promising crisp, evenly browned cornbread shaped like miniature ears of corn. Founded in 1891, the Wagner Manufacturing Company became one of America’s premier makers of cast-iron cookware, merging traditional sand-cast methods with increasingly refined mold work. Their corn stick pans, especially the Krusty Korn Kobs series, remain prized for their detailed kernels and reliable performance.
This example retains strong definition across all six wells, from the tapered tips to the raised kernel pattern. Original surface oxidation and seasoning wear are present throughout, with scattered areas of finish loss from long use, but the piece remains structurally sound and ready for re-seasoning.
