General Antiques and Collectibles Spring Auction
Lot 537:
Description
C-17994
Collection of six pressed glass sherbet or dessert cups with short pedestal bases. These mid-century serving pieces reflect the sturdy yet decorative pressed glassware popular in both home and soda fountain use. Each cup features a shallow bowl with paneled sides, supported on a squat stem and broad foot for stability. Their utilitarian but elegant design made them a common sight in kitchens, diners, and ice cream parlors, where they were used for sherbet, sundaes, or fruit.
Condition shows light surface scratches, small bubbles within the glass, and minor rim wear, consistent with age and use. A few cups exhibit small cracks and a chip as shot.
