Charming matched pair of hand-painted bisque porcelain figurines depicting a barefoot boy carrying a basket of fruit and a girl balancing an urn on her shoulder while holding a gathered bouquet. Both figures stand atop rocky plinth bases, finished in soft cream and pale blue tones typical of late 19th-century Continental parlor décor. The girl’s base is incised "482 A, " suggesting a mold or catalog reference number used by smaller European porcelain workshops active in the Thuringia or Bohemia regions. During the late Victorian era, German and Austrian bisque producers flourished-most notably in areas like Dresden and Rudolstadt-where artisans created decorative, unglazed porcelain statuary for export to the American and British markets. These two figurines are in the style of Backer.
Light wear and faint discoloration consistent with age; minor surface marks present, no visible cracks or repairs.
