1950s/1960s Rectangular lacquer tray with gilt background and hand-painted imagery of a long-tailed rooster perched on a plum tree branch. This mid-century Japanese tray features a striking gilt finish adorned with a hand-rendered rooster and plum blossoms-motifs symbolizing strength and renewal in Japanese tradition. Painted in red, gold, black, and soft blue, the design carries both seasonal and symbolic weight, executed in a style reminiscent of Nihonga-inspired export ware. The surface exhibits scattered wear and red underpainting showing through in places, adding to its authentic, time-earned patina. Pressed metal construction.
