Description

C-14266

Whimsical tin lithograph toy featuring a stylized cow with articulated features and vibrant pastoral graphics. Likely German origin. This early mechanical toy was designed to charm with movement and sound. When activated by a wind-up mechanism (or push action in some variants), the cow’s mouth opens, its eyes roll, and a clapper beneath rings out a small internal bell, simulating a lowing or mooing effect. The base is brightly lithographed with a rural pasture motif, complete with rolling hills and haystacks. Hand-assembled from cut and pressed tin, the piece is painted in warm browns, yellows, and greens with black outline detailing typical of period production from German or early Japanese export markets.

The toy shows scattered oxidation and surface wear consistent with age and play, but retains strong visual impact and charm. Please refer to photos regarding condition.
