General Antiques and Collectibles Spring Auction
Lot 221:
Description
C-17813
Wooden tabletop dexterity game consisting of a long board with routed scoring cups labeled with period slang such as "Hot – 1000," "Ullsville – 2500," "Square – 5000," "Swagger – 10000," "Flip – 25000," and "Outasight – 50000." The game is played by launching a metal ball bearing between two elastic bands at the top, sending it ricocheting down the board into the scored recesses. The design blends elements of pinball, bagatelle, and skill-based carnival games, capturing mid-century pop culture through its slang-filled scoring. Unmarked, though likely produced as a novelty or parlor game during the postwar boom of inexpensive wooden toys and games.
Condition shows age-appropriate wear with light scuffing to the wood surface and some loss of elasticity to the rubber bands, though overall appearance remains strong and fully playable.
