c. 1880s-1890s; Chicago Corset Co. – Chicago, IL Victorian chromolithographed trade card issued by the Chicago Corset Company, featuring a portrait of a fashionable woman framed within a colorful border of scrollwork, ribbon, and floral motifs. The front text reads "Compliments of Chicago Corset Company" with a testimonial excerpt from Madame Adelina Patti, a renowned 19th-century opera singer, endorsing the comfort of Ball’s Corsets. The Chicago Corset Company was one of the leading American corset manufacturers of the late 19th century, known for producing Ball’s patent "health" corsets. Like many companies of the era, they relied on vividly printed trade cards as a primary form of advertising-both decorative and collectible, these cards were distributed widely at stores and expositions, blending artistry with persuasive marketing.
Card remains bright with only minor edge wear and light toning, retaining strong color and period detail.
