c. 1930s-1940s; Lewis H. Mann & Son – Maine, USA Original retail box of "Mann’s Best White Birch Clothes Pins, " accompanied by several early turned-wood clothespins. The box retains its period typography and blue-and-red printed graphics advertising the company’s "Selected 5-inch" birch pins, "Packed Only in Cartons." The pins themselves display the smooth lathe-turned craftsmanship and pale tone characteristic of New England birch-once the standard for durable, non-splintering laundry pins. Lewis H. Mann & Son, established in Maine during the early 20th century, specialized in wooden domestic goods, particularly clothespins and tool handles made from native birch. Their products were distributed widely throughout the U.S. and became known for their consistent quality and fine finish.
Box and pins show mild age toning and surface wear; overall excellent display condition.
