This tinplate Northern Pacific General Coal Co. car #554 was manufactured by Louis Marx & Co., a prominent American toy maker active from the early 20th century through the 1970s. Featuring bright lithographed sides in orange and yellow with Northern Pacific Railway logos, this O-gauge car was part of Marx’s mid-century freight train lineup. The car has open sides for simulated coal loading and unloading and rides on black painted trucks with tinplate couplers.
Light surface scratches and edge wear present; wheels and couplers show mild oxidation.
