Lot 105:
Description
C-17473
Compact bugle fashioned from copper body with brass fittings, complete with original red twisted cord and tassels. The instrument features a flared bell, straight tubing, and double suspension rings for attaching the cord. Such bugles were used for military, scouting, and ceremonial purposes throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, valued for their simple design and strong carrying tone. This example survives with its decorative cord intact, adding visual character and historical charm. The combination of brass and copper construction reflects common period manufacturing methods, producing a warm patina over time.
Surface wear, tarnish, and oxidation present, particularly around joints. Also present is a small crack near the mouthpiece. Cord retains color with fraying to tassels.
10" L
