Large-scale cast iron coffee mill finished in deep red with gilt-highlighted lettering, featuring dual spoked flywheels and a dramatic spread-wing eagle finial crowning the hopper. Raised text around the wheel rims reads “ELGIN NATIONAL COFFEE MILL, ” emphasizing its commercial-grade origins and visual authority. The tall stance, heavy pedestal base, and opposing wheels reflect a late-19th-century design ethos where durability, mechanical clarity, and storefront presence were paramount. Purpose-built and unapologetically overengineered, this mill reads as both industrial tool and sculptural centerpiece.
Appears to be in good condition with no cracks but does have some minor paint wear.
